Frequently asked questions
Why don't my timing adjustments in VLC stick?
VLC's subtitle delay (the G/H keys or track synchronization) is only a temporary playback offset — it disappears the moment you close the video and it doesn't change the file. This tool rewrites the actual timestamps inside your .srt, so the fix works in every player.
Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your .srt is parsed and rewritten entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It never leaves your device. You can verify this in your browser's network panel — or simply disconnect from the internet after the page loads and keep fixing.
What's the difference between shift and speed factor?
Shift moves every cue by the same number of seconds — best when subtitles are uniformly early or late. Speed factor stretches or compresses the whole timeline — best when the drift starts small and grows worse over the video, for example after a frame-rate conversion.
What are the free version limits?
The free version fixes one .srt file up to 5 MB per run. Subtitle Sync Fixer Pro ($29 one-time) adds unlimited batch processing, automatic sync from the audio waveform, and frame-rate conversion (23.976↔25).
